NORWAY - Hardangervidda
A trip to Norway for snowkiting has become very popular in recent years. The reason is obvious – it is a “snowkiting paradise” and the best place for this sport in Europe.
Every morning we will analyze the situation at each location together, and according to the current conditions and the forecast for the day we will decide where to go that day. Virtually every day we will drive directly from the lodge to the cabin, or drive up to the snowkiting area where there is an “endless playground” for our fun. We guarantee that you have never seen so many snowparks at once:-).
We can also organise a one-day transfer (approx. 100 km). Or you can book a multi-day Kite Expedition with rental of the necessary expedition equipment (must be booked by the end of February, minimum number for the arrangement is 3 persons).
Why Norway?
The Hardangervidda plateau is the highest plateau in Europe and its location between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea offers a high number of days with more and less wind. The area has also been the site of the RedBull Ragnarok race for several years. The area is also very suitable for cross-country skiing and there is a ski lift or a larger ski resort (Geilo) nearby.
Accommodation
We will be staying in our hut near the town of Geilo, close to the first snowkiting sites on the Hardangervidda plateau. Baráček is located on the slope of a nice valley with a view is lined with a cross-country ski trail and snowkiting locations will be a short drive away. Of course there are scheduled trips up to great places either by cabin or car. It all depends on the conditions and the actual weather that will prevail at the place on those days.
Layout of accommodation
5 bathrooms, 7 bedrooms (two beds each), large lounge, fully equipped large kitchen, fireplace and plenty of space for all. As a bonus, the sauna, which was very useful :)! Parking is available directly at the house.
Shops and services
In Geilo (7 km) there are shops of various kinds. The town is the ski centre of the area and the gateway to the plateau. There is also a modern ski resort. We will be going to “Harda” and other places either together or individually by car and we will choose between different locations depending on the weather forecast.
Transport
You can travel to Norway either by car or by air. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. If you want to go by car we can arrange a carpool on your date, so that the whole event is as cheap as possible. The journey takes 18 hours and is by no means unpleasant.
Or you can fly “lightly” to Oslo, where we will pick you up and bring you to our “basecamp” – a small barracks (minimum number of 2 people for a transfer from/to Oslo).
