On the weekend of February 1-2, 2025, another edition of the Snowkite Stormy Lipno race took place on the frozen Lipno. This year’s conditions favoured the riders – both days offered stable winds and perfectly hard, sometimes smooth ice, which created an ideal environment for high-speed battles that were technically and kite-ridingly more demanding than on snow. The surface was unforgiving, very fast and hard. However, most of the competitors had counted on this and had perfectly prepared equipment.
On Saturday the weather was sunny with wind around 5 m/s, which was magically “switched on” at exactly 10.30, at the moment when the organization was already placing the third turning point of the race. The conditions made it possible to organize four races in the morning in the race discipline. In the afternoon, the popular discipline long distance, where riders measured their strength on a longer course. On Sunday there were more clouds and the wind, which was a bit lighter, got on exactly as planned the day before. This allowed the course to be built again in the morning, which was a little longer and differently built than Saturday’s, and the competition continued with four more heats of racing.
22 competitors took the start, among them four women and three juniors under 17. On both days the race was held on a technically demanding but fast surface of clear ice, which tested the skills and courage of all participants.
The background for the whole event was provided by the Hawk 1 camp, which is located right on the race site and offered great conditions for both athletes and spectators. Saturday evening was closed with an unforgettable party with DJ Negativ Minde, which brought well-deserved relaxation after a hard day on the ice. A local restaurant provided a killer feast, burgers and good draft beer.
Snowkite Stormy Lipno 2025 has confirmed its reputation as a prestigious race where enthusiastic athletes and adrenaline fans meet. We are already looking forward to the next edition!
Thanks to all participants, not only to the competitors, but to everyone who contributed in any way to the smooth running of the event. Thanks!
