Our journey began in Sicily. Led by Martin Lafko, we took a 2-hour drive across the island of Sicily, where we were then only a 20-minute ferry ride away from the rest of Italy. After arriving we were already heading to the race venue.
Just like that, after a sleepless night in the car on the beach, my first day was starting with registration. At the same time, I also had to do pre-race training on my new 18qm Flymaax BOOM v2.
And there was the first day… there were three fleets – men, women and juniors. The course, length and number of races were specified at the meeting. 5 races each day, except for the last one, when the final races were more likely to be run.
As for how successful my first day was?
Something new for me again. The wind was slowly picking up, so it forced me to change kits at least 4 times. I owe this to Martin, who was a support for me on the shore and also my beachboy. So I managed to get everything done thanks to him and ended the first day with 31-DNC-DNF-28-DNC results. My not finishing the races was due to a problem with my kit, which made it impossible to finish the races on time.
Day 2: The biggest luck and the reason for my better results was the light and stable wind that allowed me to stay all day on my 18qm Flymaax BOOM v2. I was happy with this result as this is only my third race ever and straight world class.
Day 3: The wind was a bit stronger at times, so I pulled out my 15qm BOOM v2 for one race thinking that we had adjusted it so that it would lead me to an even better result. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case and there was another problem added to the mix. My trim on my very old bar stopped trimming. The only solution was to switch to a carbon bar, which unfortunately I never had in my hand. So the gauges looked like 26-26-DNC-26-29.
I consider the whole competition quite successful and very beneficial. So I finished in 30th position out of the best 34 female competitors. But the races for me were not only about racing, but about gaining experience and also about making new contacts, which I think I succeeded.
See you again, Ciao!

Martin Lafek with a short word:
We had 3 competitors in the race, besides Dominika, also Kateřina Šalandová and Vojta Koška. It is necessary to say that all of them did a great job and moved up a lot. As for the race itself – great atmosphere, perfect people, even very good organization. I was very impressed, although I didn’t really stop around Domč. For example, putting the 12m lines on the carbon bar about 10 min before Domci start was a treat. We made it! I really enjoyed it. I’ve been kite racing for 14 years.
